Hi all,
an idea in connection with this is inclusion of Moslem slave hunters who are known to have raided N. American coast in our period of time.
Could be a new questline actually. Fight them or maybe side with them…Rgds, Oldtimer

There was an error before with the Fast Armed English Merchantman I think, the mercantile clone of the English scout frigate, that was related to rigging textures missing. It might be the same case here, worth to check out at least.
What’s the ship called in the ships_init.c?

Enemy recognition, again.
Sailing for Spain I join a battle between Portugal-Pirates. Portuguese flag is neutral, Pirates hostile. I decide to help the Portuguese.
While manouvering to a good attack position I come close to the Portuguese and they open fire upon me. Why? They are flagged neutral all the time.Rgds, Oldtimer

I can make a note of that ship, but I won’t be able to fix it because I don’t know modeling and we seem to have lost our only ship modeller a short time ago. But I will record the problem and if anyone ever comes along with an ability for that type of work, they can take a look at it.

Hello everyone! I notice that some of the rigging on the ships are missing and was wondering if there was any way of fixing it? Specifically on the armed english merchant. And I’m experiencing some fps slow downs. I have a decent pc, well decent enough to be able to run this game, and was wondering if there was any way to fix this or help it.

Interesting conversation. I had a discussion of this on one of our Youtube videos where I talk about dumping slaves at shores so they can escape. I go so far as to dump a little food as well for part of the immersion – getting into the role play. I wouldn’t be completely sure about that. I mean, in the time period slavery is not regularly looked down on as morally repulsive as it is today, it’s more of a power struggle between hardcore abolitionists and hardcore slavers and slave traders, and a lot of levels inbetween. Hmmmm.
But shouldn’t releasing prisoners improve one’s reputation at least? There are several missions about freeing NPCs from slavery in the game. Maybe you could make it so that the self-dialog option gives a slight reputation boost?

There is currently no option to simply release slaves, but if you are playing a character that does not want to ruthlessly kill slaves, or sell them, this is what I do for those types of character roles:
Go to a port/mooring spot on shore.
Open the character GUI interfaces, select the ship.

Thanks, found it now. There are about 40 officer character models in the character model folder though, were models 22-40 left out for any particular reason?

This game sure has peculiar spelling sometimes… I first thought “mush” in the model names was supposed to be “mesh” of some kind, since that term is used in some other games’ models.

The non-Hero officers in taverns, are created in loc_aiLAi_utilites.c, function CreateHabitues. They are created in the call: NPC_GeneratePhantomCharacter(“pofficer”, iNation, MAN, 1), and tracing through the function, it gets the model string from CreateModelString:

Right now, the only characters that will show different armor (and that is not always, but they are the only ones that can), are the player and all the NPCs that are considered the other “heroes”, that are defined in HeroDescribe.txt.
