I’m having a problem with the background image while exploring jungle environments. It seems the image is too short to cover all the way down, which gives you a blue area at certain camera angles. At first, I thought the blue area was a lake, but at closer inspection, it’s the void.

Yep! It was your videos that got me here. YouTube Let’s Plays can do wonders to get peoples’ attention!
I’m having too many Let’s Play series going myself now so I haven’t had much time for GoF. I’m in no hurry though. My GoF playthoughs will be going for years to come, I guess. I’m going to record a couple of episodes of it this weekend though to get things going again.
For video editing, I’m using Shotcut. It’s free and relatively simple to get a hang of with lots of tutorials online. I don’t do much editing though. Most of my stuff I just record and throw up on YouTube.

I just tried out the new real time sailing encounters. That IS a game changer. Awesome job on that!

Lots of different crash fixes there, so this is going to be really interesting to see if it solves my random crashing problems or if it’s the recording software.

When landing on the beach between Campeche and Caracas on the Spanish Main, and travelling on foot, I can enter the next cell from the beach, but I cannot go further inland since the two exits from that cell do not work.
Also, while travelling on foot inland, it seems Fighters do not follow into certain cells. It happened to me outside Panama/Puerto Bello, which was a shame, because there was a SPanish military patrol in the area and if I had my boarders with me, we could have beaten them.

I have the same problem with the logbook. I was recording a video when it happened. I clicked the logbook and the character menu closes and I can’t open it again. I saved, restarted the game and the problem was still there in the save file. Only solution was going back to a previous save.
The problem is present in my video going up to YouTube tomorrow.
There is NO questbook.ini in my Resource/ini/Interfaces folder.

I am shamelessly going to resurrect this thread because I think we can make it into a collection thread for Gentlemen of Fortune YouTube Let’s Plays.
YouTube is one of the absolutely best ways to market games. The big games companies – like Paradox – realize that. We need to get more Let’s Plays and YouTube material going. Vincent Spencer’s Let’s Play series above actually led me to finding Gentlemen of Fortune in the first place.
So to do my part, I’ve started an LP series as well.

Yeah! I tried it again last night and clicked the Restore Default button and then it worked fine and there’s no problem now either when reloading.
The game has developed since I last played it at the end of last year. I love the addition of the Portugese. When I left Nevis I immediately spotted two Portugese ships too. It was like they were greeting me. Good job!

I started a new game a couple of days ago and saved it in the first town. Now when I go into the game and want to continue, the controls are screwed up and I can’t move the character correctly. Is this a known problem? Mouse doesn’t move the view either, only up and down.

I didn’t like the new client and I’ve uninstalled it. It’s a mess and makes installation and updating behave weirdly. I already have Steam, that GOG thing, IndieDB, the Bethesda thing and Origin unfortunately, and a whole range of other useless clients installed. I don’t need another one, especially one I find a mess.

Anything that makes the travel map secondary and first person perspective sailing in the 3D world preferable is something I like. It makes the game world and my interactions with it feel realistic. Direct Sailing encounters is definitely a great step in the right direction! It sets Eras2 apart from other pirate games and “Sea Dogs clones” by lightyears! You pulled it off very nicely.
There’ll be more videos soon, as time permits, with even more complaints, nagging and bad swordplay lol
