Well that’s unfortunate. I see that problem too. That ship is defined to have 4 hull texture folders, but it only has 3 and the one causing the problems is when the ship randomly gets Hull4 assigned. I found the problem with that gray ship in your shots. You can fix it yourself, to save the download trouble. Find RESOURCETexturesShipsZwareFregat1Hull1ship_wood_09.tga.tx and move the file to RESOURCETexturesShipsZwareFregat1. I will correct it in the update, but in the meantime will correct your issue.

I remember Coas I think you had to do the main quest first before a city became yours…
Correct. One of the nation questlines need completed before you can retain a town and appoint one of your officers as caretaker/tax collector.

I have long known some fights are near unwinnable, when playing on the higher difficulty levels as the original difficulty settings, when applied to the enemy generation, do not scale well, become super unbalanced, where the opposition far outranks you and often far exceeds your skill attributes.

Do you have a boarding save from when you were about to sack the town after Fort Amsterdam destroyed? That would be helpful to determine the issue. If not, how about a save just prior to your attack and I will destroy it myself to see if I get the same result.

I think you are missing the rigging.ini update that goes along with the engine change for the new effect; it contains a couple adjustments, along with a couple new settings I added. Here is that same ship in my 2.6 version of the game:

You probably had an English patent? Since England is friendly with France, if you fire on French ships, your patent is removed, you see the ‘used item’ message and you are now considered hostile to the crown for firing upon their friends 🙂

Yep, already with you on the log entry too. The criteria will adhere to the original intent that the crew and cannon number need to be fairly low. The log entry will now tell you exactly the criteria used, which will be a restriction on crew size and cannon number, explicitly written in your log, so you can use that information when looking at…[Read more]

True, the Zabra is certainly dangerous and can handily defeat ol’ Low in that brig. I found the problem. As ships have been added, there is a hardcoded ship index for what is supposed to be every ship class 6 or greater, in PiratesLine_q3_loginSeaWolf from reaction_functions.c. It is 22 at the moment, but looking at the ships.h, it should be changed to 76.
I fixed it for the upcoming update.

The description mentioning only when assigned to relevant officers is a holdover from COAS, that has never been changed, and is a bit misleading. Here’s how they work:

Cabins will be opened up for class 7 ships in the next update. It will be available for existing saves, so no new game required.

Yes, the voiced greetings are simply a stock list of sound files, (the list is usually relevant to the character type), that are randomly selected and have no correlation to the dialog. In fact, that portion of the greeting code has no way of really knowing what is about to be said, so not easily changed.

Yes, that’s it. I noticed in my previous post, I confused things a bit. The problem with Des Moines is that it had ‘officer’ no plural as the locator group, but for your fighters to show, the model must have ‘officers’ with the ‘s’ for a locator group.

By the way, I peeked at a few of the inside locations (houses, rooms, etc.) and it will still disallow your fighter officers from spawning inside for fights such as the ‘dinner party’ or Isabella scene because of the same problem that Des Moines had; there are no ‘officer’ group locators. Thank you very much. I have Win7, without a problem, but now see that is 2008 redist, which I already have installed so of course I would not have the problem.
