I got it! DirectX9 version is now working!
I reverted the Renderer code back to DX8, then started over with a conversion and I see where I messed up…simple really.

Well, just like the human models…well, kinda, as the human models are mostly all correct, with only 1 or two rendered wrong. I am just curious if eyeballing in the tools you use to view the models or something if there is some way to compare one that works in the game, like the Diane model against a view of one that doesn’t work, like Angelica, and see if there is some difference you can see the way it is constructed, or something that jumps out at you as something that…[Read more]

Well, since I got stuck at resolving some remaining DX9 issues, I went back to the DX8 version and turned up the DirectX debugging mode to output more messages and that’s when I noticed the WARN messages about a performance degradation. Couple things about the new compilation testing.
KK had changed the character log read, and there was a bug. Click around enough of the log entries on the screen and eventually a crash. I identified and corrected the problem.

I should add, when you make good money from store owner/town mayor tasks, etc., be sure to go to the tavern and hire a good gunner first, then perhaps next, a navigator (you can ask them what they’re good for and you will see their skill scores/perks)…or better one officer with good skills in both, but with a multitask personal perk.

Works like a charm. I loaded a save, ran your console reinit, went to the shipyard and bought a PequenaCaravela. There I see the new cabin. Nice work.

Download ERAS.Patch.zip from the link. It is still the original ERAS, but with fixes/improvements. Overwrite any files from the .zip into your existing ERAS game directory.

LOL, wait a minute. I read that backwards the first time. You were using the original INI versions, then copied over the download version, which worked for you. So I am good and don’t need to look for differences. I thought it was the other way around for a moment.

No worries. This is good news.
I will compare the two and try to find what is likely a missing file so that the download will work on its own. But for now, a good workaround in a problem like this is to do as you did and copy/replace Resource from the original fileset.

Orazio, since this error in your .dmp file occurs in the load font function, what do you show in start.ini for this value?
