So the new screenshots thread no longer opens for me… nor does the old one. Sigh… well you know we are changing domains and forum tools, but I can’t get to it until August or September with my current schedule. I called Go Daddy again and its apparent that this degraded site capability is very much intentional. They want to sell new upgrades and support packages which will improve performance. Well that just completely synches things for me. Go Daddy and this clunky forum will be history in a couple of more months and we will have a fresh new website.
Anyway, I just finished skinning the last Ship Orazio provided to me in the Mount and Blade line up of ships being converted and added to the game. She turned out really nice! The only thing she is missing is a taffrail flag pole. Perhaps Orazio can add one for me.
Thanks again to Orazio mates! I love this ship. Just to explain the skins: Number 1 is a Zeven Provincien like skin, Number 2 is inspired by Tromp’s famous Aemilia even though this ship was from 30 years before. The angels are a nice touch and I stayed close to the illustrations available for that ship. The last one is a tribute to the Swan – or in Dutch “Zwaan”. There were a number of Dutch ships with this motif on the stern. I decided upon a black one in tribute to the famous pirate movie “The Black Swan” – one of my all-time favorites with Tyrone Power in feature role. The swan was popular in 17th century Holland and even a sort of unofficial mascot. It is seen in many works of art viciously hissing and defending its nest. One of DeWitt’s nicknames and even a piece of art in tribute to him concern this brave defending swan. Often its hunting dogs the swan is running off which would be more than a match – but the Swan’s tenacity still prevails and the dogs leave it alone. Its obvious to see the parallel with the little Netherlands defending her territory against all of the great powers of the day – at war for the better part of the 17th century.
Anyway, here are the skins. Hope you enjoy them. This has already been forwarded to Jeffrey and will be in the next update. To Orazio, I almost have that old Wasa beak done. That will be a rare ship which I want to be in a future quest I am writing. What do you think mates? MK

That’s an awesome work MK, now the ship looks much more realistic and interesting compared to the boring original M&B textures!

I haven’t been active for a while, and I’m sorry for that, but sometimes I just feel the need of a little break. I’ll keep working on converting those remaining M&B ships, and creating other boarding scenes with the models I have.
If there are other particular requests, just ask, anybody.I also started creating a new (small) ship some months ago, but don’t want to anticipate too much for fear that I won’t complete it.
