This is a rather new glitch I’ve been having happen with me recently. About a month ago, there was this error saying “dvm.dll not found” on my computer. I didn’t bother fixing it until yesterday, but then a new one came up after I fixed that one. It said “please insert DVD of X-3 Terran Conflict”. I obviously don’t have whatever this DVD is, and if it does exist, I won’t be able to get it. Does anyone know what is causing this issue and maybe know how to fix it? I would greatly appreciate help on this.

I’ve heard of this one before but I can’t remember how it was solved. This is obviously some kind of glitch with DRM that is soaking through. My guess is that this is TAGES protection trying to interfere with the DVM file that we have in the mod that allows us to play with no disk.
I looked up X3 Terran conflict and sure enough it uses TAGES as its DRM protection.
I would suggest two courses of action.
1. Do some searches on X3 Terran conflict related pages about TAGES and if there are any patches to get rid of them. My thoughts are that you are probably using Window 8 or 10 which is allowing this to occur. I am almost certain you will find threads on how to patch this or what to load to help you.
2. (Only if you cannot resolve thru COA 1) Download TAGES drivers and install…. It literally is making me sick to my stomach telling you to do this. Please make a back up and restore point on your computer before you do this so you can go back if TAGES dicks something up. I HATE TAGES! The only worse DRM I can think of are some of the old school modules you were forced to buy and click into your old school NES systems and of course there is always the incredibly invasive and destructive STARFORCE.
Now after uttering these unholy words and archane profane practices I must go purge my mind with beautiful ship images and happy thoughts. Perhaps I will go look at the picture of Orazio’s Galleon again. Good Luck Adam! If anyone has any other ideas please chime in.

I’m sorry to say that all roads lead to TAGES drivers on this issue. I’m researching this problem, but every forum, video, and article related to this topic says nothing but “download TAGES”. It seems like the only way to get my game to work other than waiting for the mega patch to be released.

I installed TAGES protection system, but that didn’t seem to work. I don’t know what else to do as all roads point to that system.

Adam – WHERE are you installing your game? If you’re using “C:\Program Files (x86)\….” – DONT!
Install it directly in a folder from “C:\” instead (i.e. “C:\ERAs2 1.5.7”). Installing into “Program Files (x86)” can cause issues with win7/8 or higher.
You’ve probably already done this, but just in case you haven’t 🙂

I’m installing my game in my optical disk drive. It’s named E:\. My game is in its own folder there. It’s named ERAS1.5.7. in that drive. My C:\ drive is an SSD which does not have enough space in it for the unpacked game, hence why I have it in the E:\ Drive.
EDIT: It WAS in the C:\ drive before I moved it to my new volume drive.

I have found what was causing the issue. It was the dvm.dll file in the ERAS folder that was causing it. I don’t know why exactly this was causing that, but I managed to get the game working by taking the same file from the Age of Pirates 2 disk and putting it into my ERAS folder. It works, although the game takes up half my screen rather than the full screen, which annoys me somewhat. Anyone got any ideas of how to fix this?

Probably just need to change start.ini in the game’s install directory. Open it in a text editor like notepad. Change these setting to match your monitor’s resolution size:
screen_x = 1920
screen_y = 1080The above would match a 1920 x 1080 resolution.

Turns out I didn’t have fullscreen mode activated. My bad. Everything works good now. Case is closed for now.
