Have to get me a PayPal account for the engine, this makes it three good reasons (the other two being mods too of course).
Anyway, for me it would be DX9-64, if I got that right?I really like what I could see, especially all the Maelstrom options for older systems. In total I’d say a €/$39.99 game.
Oh, before I forget it: developer mode is enabled? I’ll have to get my old system running again just for the things I’ve done to the F-10 menu, like for testing spawning different ships, or god mode on/off for the navigator and such. -

It’s a bit older than that, just “William Dampier Freibeuter 1683-1691”.
Yeah, I got the impression he’s more of the exploring type, not exactly fitting the pirate picture.
And he had Flamingo for dinner…. -

@Maltacus: that file would be Program>scripts>ShipsUtilites.c; just open it and search for SHIP_WAR_TARTANE and you’ll be right on top of it all.

Nope, a new game is all the same, no switching ammo and sticking with the selected type.
Aside from that it’s great, noticeable reduction in starting and loading time! -

After updating vanilla ERAS to x64 I can’t switch ammo types when I’m engaged in a battle, it will simply stick to the last type selected.
The moment the battle is over, or when I’m in port it does work.Tried it with the unpatched game and it’s working as supposed to.
I’ll try it with a new game and see…. -

Arrr, treasure!
Went through all my hdds and stored stuff, found Maya 5 and half a gazillion of characters and several very old files from back in ’11.
Bad news, it’s the Russian version, grmbl!

XP is not a problem, all I’d need is to get one of my old machines set up again and there we go.
Ah, let’s see how far I can get with that. -

Is Maya 5 a must have for the export plug-in or does it work with later versions?
And if it has to be Maya 5 where can I get it? Aside from a dubious download on another site we shall not name here, I really don’t know.
Wherever I’ve asked I get a huh-what? -

I don’t even have any officers and my reputation went down to bloody assassin just for defending my ship and the cargo and searching corpses and chests.
Don’t know what’s considered bad with doing that; nothing has changed after getting a patent.
Would think it’s a bit off balance since being good would mean to let them board and kill you. -

Running on Win7 Home Premium 64bit, compatibility set to XP (SP3)and without admin rights, from a folder on my desktop and it’s running fine.
Where did you install it to? Avoid Program Files or Program Files (x86), Windows has some sort of a protection on these two folders, that could cause problems. -

A thought that just hit me: would it be possible to buy into a shipyard, so you could order a ship?
Depending on colony economy and goods available, maybe you’d have to deliver some of the materials needed; logbook entries about the building progress and when it’s finished it could be the topmost ship in the list of what you can get from that shipyard. And being a co-owner would make it somewhat cheaper. Also, copper and iron ore could be delivered to certain towns for further processing, generating high value goods like copper plating or whatever.

Now that will save lots of ammo and frustration with trying to get in range with those tiny 4 pounders, while he’s happily shredding my little Lugger.
Combined with the double line formation this will be awesome; aww, I need a fleet!
Scratch that, first I need officers, then some of your treasures (and it does feel like finding a treasure!) and then I can think about ships…Wait a second, would it be possible to by into a shipyard so you could order a ship?
I’ll post that in Vincent’s thread of good ideas. -

I remember that article from when I’ve read it on PA, best read ever!
COAS ballistics never felt wrong for me, but then I can say we’ve almost the same point of view even if I don’t have 24 years of experience, just 8 month (back then in 1992 the long term). -

That should be F12 and you’ll find them in your ERAS directory as Buccaneer’s_####.JPEG.

@Maltacus: the easy way is to edit RESOURCE>INI>texts>russian> HeroDescribe.txt.
Each hero has a line animation_[hero number], so if you look at Mary and Jacquotte, you’ll see they use YokoDias animations, since both are based on that specific model, while Beatrice has beatrice_ab for animations which would work for all Beatrice based models.
Animations can be found in RESOURCE>animation.
Swapping those animations in HeroDescribe.txt may result in distorted characters, since the animations don’t fit the model. The hard way would be to edit the whole character and create a new set of animations with something like 3dsmax or Maya.
