Extract your Maelstrom engine and copy the DirectX9_64bit to wherever you want your install to be located. Rename this folder Age of Pirates 2. Extract the contents of the Eras 2 pack to this folder. You should see your Program folder next to the modules folder in the directory. The save folders should merge. You should also see your Start.ini in this directory same as the Config.exe.
Run the config.exe
Setup the settings to your liking and hit Save & Play to launch the game. Create a short cut to the Maelstrom.exe and rename the shortcut to Age of Pirates 2. Copy this shortcut to where you have your games kept and run that from now on to launch the game directly.
In the future when you want to update, copy the save folder from your directory to keep your saves. Repeat the above process, then put your save folder back in.
Bonus.
Open Start.ini
Under “[sound_aliases]” add this line under the other items
soundAliasPath = Fantasy\
Save and close
Open config.exe, and change your Sound Scheme path to Fantasy, save and play

Good afternoon, I encountered another strange thing. This reticule is shaped like a T rather than the horizontal line I’ve seen. I cannot figure out what caused this. Has anyone ever seen this happen or know a way to avoid it? If I load an older save it is the normal reticule, but I cannot figure out what happened
Hello, I’ve been getting this odd stuttering on the map. Weirdly, if I enable recording my framerate increases and the stuttering goes away. This happens even if fraps is not running. Here is video https://youtu.be/A9cZwrgocSU
I also noticed an AI ship accidentally ram its counterpart, and its mast fell off. I knew falling masts were removed so I assume this is unintentional
I gave this a test and it only worked for the main menu. When trying to replace the music for sea battles it acted as though I did nothing. The strange thing was changing the alias in the config.exe worked, but modifying the individual music alias files did not apart from the menu music
I had a huge bounty before I completely understood the system and even though I killed them and captured their ships, they never quit chasing me. I had to speak with the Pirate Diplomat to finally get rid of my bounty.
I’m wondering, how does Realistic Ships Encounters affect the spawns on the map? I think I noticed the smaller pirate sloop spawns being faster ships instead of lighter frigates.
