Hello fellow pirates and buccaneers,
In the previous version of the mod I played a playthrough on 2nd highest difficulty, I managed to do most if not all quests without cheating, but my death toll was over 200 in the whole playthrough.
Now since I feel I could use a better challenging game, I started it on Impossible difficulty.
Here are some aspects to consider when playing on it, for those who wondered what it would feel like:*Instant death if hit by a bullet
*Instant death if hit by an overswing and not manage to parry
*Instant death if you get hit 2 time by a swing or stab in short succession
*Enemy has up to 5 Healing pots ready, on average its 2-3, fights are taking longer because of that.
*Enemy fighting speed is increased, if they see a weakpoint they will try to hit you. Always keep your guard and parry swing up.
*Board crew cost is DRASTICALLY increased, expect to pay 50-100k per month just for the salary of a class 5 ship.
*Drastically increased Officer cost, early on they will cost your around 7.000+ expect prices to rise throughout the game as they level up too.
*Fighting ships on sea is more challenging than ever, they will instantly try to flee if your higher than them, if your equal they will try to board you or cripple you and then bomb you to pieces. You will loose on average half your crew in one boarding fight.
*Boarding fights give the enemy ships huge advantages so if its 100 vs 100, prepare to face tripple the odds, as if it were 25 vs 100.Gameplay rules:
No Cheating.
Reloads for loot is allowed. But should be counted.
Death Reloads are to be counted.- This topic was modified 9 years ago by Devoidbrah.

Interesting. Is current “Deathtoll” the number of times you have died?
I gotta try this one day. You do realize that many of the new characters come with more items and perks/flags and some good ships. It doesn’t matter what difficulty.

Crashes: 2@MK: Deathtoll is indeed the times I have died. I had started that Davis Character and he had poor armament and a small ship. Which I sold off. I made some 100k from a drop of one of the tavern brawls so I bought myself a proper ship and started raiding small vessels. Sadly theres not many I can raid with only a crew of 150.

LOL!
I started a new game with Impossible selected just to give this a try. I also want to start reviewing/debugging Spanish questline. I’m gonna have to do a different game for that questline review because this is insane. I stopped counting my death toll after about 30, utter insanity, LOL!
I got real lucky though when starting because in the first few days ‘game time’ I found a 200,000 pistol, that I unfortunately only got roughly 100,00 for it because…trading skills suck :), but phew, that really helped in upping my ship’s guns/hiring crew and a couple officers to offset my poor start skills, which really hurt when you’re dying near instantly in any dangerous situation.
This is both hilarious, tedious to reload save points (do this before ANYTHING that requires you to step out in the wild, LOL), and frustrating.
I opted for the first side-quest offered by another hero and it was that ‘find the shipwrecked crew and fight them on the beach’…that took at least 20 reloads before I finally figured out that the other hero is likely immortal and if I stayed far enough away to lure one or two enemy soldiers away, I could almost fight them without dying every time; the other guy was surrounded, but never seemed to die; I exploited that fact…though the other poor crewmembers on our side were all dead with only the two of us left standing 🙂
I just now accepted another one, but this will be a ship battle/boarding mission…that should be a hoot.

In addition to the points made by Devoidbrah above, I have noted a couple other things about the Impossible setting:
It seems to really slow your perk progress. I got to level 4 and finally got my first personal ability perk…I have yet to get a ship perk.
It won’t allow you to fast-sail to the nearby sail points unless ALL the ships in your fleet have the minimum required crew…I don’t remember that requirement in lower difficulty settings.

I decided to do this because you guys were talking about it. Really wished I hadn’t. I don’t like it. The only good thing I like is slow progress and treasure is a lot more rare. A lot of funny crappy treasure combinations. Corpses often don’t have anything. Special blades like Katanas, etc are harder to get even using savescum techniques.
The thing that kills it for me is just how difficult enemies have become. Impossible makes it “IMPOSSIBLE” to get through the really hard quest fights without using God Mode. The generated enemy fighters are just consistently God-like themselves. I can’t believe how many hits it takes to kill certain individuals. That makes the game just completely UN-realistic in my mind. I will stick with Commodore thank you very much.
I am going to keep playing the Prins test game on Impossible. I am at level 23 and just starting the English Governor questline. I have completed the Morgan questline up to the Governor window. I have completed the Tenochtitlan and Brig Queen quests as well. I have also completed the Flying Dutchman questline, but haven’t gone after the now vulnerable Dutchman yet.
I will play a little more because I’ve gone so far with this game. Even with maxed weapons/fighting skills and the best weapons available at level 23 I am still having a challenge killing just run of the mill bounty hunters, fighters, crewmen etc…
At least I can say I tried it…

Well ERAS2 on impossible is kinda like playing darksouls 2.
You can really feel your mortality in those moments. It gets easier overtime though.
My main problem right now is that I returned/scrapped my gaming rig sold half the components on ebay and bought myself a 250 Euro laptop that I modified to suit my business needs. It has Intel pentium Quadcore cpu with 2,66GHz, 8 GB, 240 GB SSD and a Nvidia 840M which is slightly better than CPU graphics…
Can I run games with it? LOL, not really no XD
I tried playin GOF on it but it seems I have major stuttering problems and the framerate drop on it is crazy.
Its running windows 10 so I have no idea if theres an impact on that too.
I would love to return to do some more impossible gameplays and maybe post some pics. My long stretch goal is to get a gaming laptop @ about 1k euro as soon as the new 1080 nvidia generation becomes cheaper in notebooks. I kinda lost interest in havin normal computers. Its just not viable if you like to move around or live in two different countries or be on the run

Would running it in compatibility mode solve it?
Or is it the structure in which Win 10 operates that makes it so iffy to play older titles?Ofc i know its not optimized for it, but i had hoped i could play it on this one. at least on medium^^

Ok I got it to run in windows 10… BUT while extracting files, I noticed alot of files were mentioned to be corrupt and thus were not properly opened by 7zip… I have noticed the first glitches already with icons not showing. I downloaded it 2 times with same outcomes. I will try extracting it in windows 7 then copy pasting it merging it with my current running game. Alot of boarding type files didnt get extracted for some odd reason. Oh well windows 10 I guess. Gonna reply back when everythings done.
