I decided to give the Loyal Member group access to the 64 bit version. For those of you with Win7, 8 and 10 64 bit versions, run without any compatibility settings and see if that resolves any of those issues with those systems (the fullscreen alt-tab, antialiasing, etc.).
On my Win7 64 bit, it runs really well.
Also, I made some more changes to ship AI, where ships trying to escape, if there is a nearby fort, they might head for that (depends on wind, enemy positions, etc.) The original game never made that an option for fleeing ships. I also built in some flexibility, where many of these new AI settings are now able to be provided by the script code, so we don’t have to recompile to tweak some of these new AI settings, that were inaccessible to script before.
These last changes are also in a new 32 bit version, that I also uploaded to the Loyal link.
The latest ship AI changes so far:
Ships factor point-of-sail vs. wind, enemy ship strength/weakness, nearby island obstacles and fort locations.
Ships friendly with the fort, may consider fleeing to the fort for protection, as part of their escape.
Proximate island shores are better avoided, as are nearby ships.
Post-boarding actions, a ship will now seek to defends its nearest ally, where before, it would wander off aimlessly…same with a dead ally that it was tasked to defend.
Mod option to enable multi-row squadrons
Non-ship AI improvement, that has been around for a few months, is no more PC/NPC friendly fire for the player group. Can’t believe nobody has commented on that one! Anybody notice you no longer get shot in the back? Sure, it never did any damage, but it still stunned you, unable to fight for a second…
Other new features:
Antialiasing option
New game hero filters by male/female and nation
A hero, upon new game selection, will cause other NPC heroes to be restricted to the same time-period they were active, so some NPCs will not be seen in the game, due to being out of period…also start year is adjusted (be sure to select the Mod Option before clicking New Game to activate…each time you start a new game; it is Off by default)
