Problem with Spanish quest line

[Blas de Lezo]

Im started a new game with Blas de Lezo,which has a letter of marque and trading license with Spain by default in his items.

I completed various missions for Santiago Governor (smugglers etc) and padre(priest) to improve my reputation with spanish until I reached Admiration reputation with Spain.

Now the “big problem” for me.
I have level 6 and my reputation with Spain is Admiration.But when I talk to the General Governor in Havana he says he dont know me and invite me to leave his office.
When I talk to other spanish governor to play a game,he says he dont play with strangers!!!He only offers me missions.

I thought maybe I started pirate quest line because I was in bermuda previously but in the quest book i only have “Blue Bird” and “Ship of souls”.
So I dont know who to continue serving my King Carlos II and country 😀

PD:Is very hard to play with Blas de Lezo because the big skills reduction due to own high tier ship Santiago(Historical ship,i love this details) and crew salary is very high too and difficult to pay the sum monthly(about 200 crew salary upkeep cost is more than 350.000 pieces of eight with Santiago),and the ships encounter(at this level usually 5-6 tier) are very fast compared to me due to low crew,low skills and penalties so they cant win me (hull is over 50000) they usually flee and I cant intercept them to boarding because my speed is about 4-5 😀 but despite all of this I find very fun play with Lezo, a new challenge for me and enjoy it a lot.

I know,I must leave my ship in port control and take a ship according to my level to get the things more easy,but I rejected to do this “humiliation” to Blas de Lezo,He was a Spanish Hero and I dont want see him leading a lugger or similar not according to his greatness

I just created a new game as this character to check things out, and sure enough, I see the Letter of Marque in items, but you need to click the ‘Equip Item’ for the Governor Gen. to recognize such. Try that.

Thanks Jeffrey,the problem is previously I accidentally sunk a spanish ship when i trying to defend him in a battle against pirates,because of that my Letter of marque dissapeared automatically from my items so I bought another letter of marque from diplomat and works perfect now!!!

Yeah I think a lot of people may be missing that they have to click to equip the letter of marque to make it work. I think I added that to the “read me” file.

On the large ships. This was meant to give you options. I do not know how to give the character a higher level at the beginning of the game. So I give you the ship that they would have had historically. You have multiple options. You can sell it. You can give it to the port controller and get it later when you level up, or you can give it to a companion. I just thought it would add a lot of neat new gameplay options/variety to the challenge and fun of COAS. Its sorta like Peter Blood getting Arabella when he breaks out of port. That ship is too much for him to handle at that time as well.
