Hehe, yes they will turn hostile. I believe that your relation takes a slight hit if you actually kill an English guard (in the case you present), but not quite as badly as when you fire upon their ship. Also, if you stand back and let everyone else kill them, nothing happens to your relation 🙂

The only time there is a battle on shore is when they are ‘stranded’ awaiting pickup. If they are ‘moored somewhere nearby’ they are on their ships, somewhere in the vicinity and you have to find them. And they are not always within eyesight of the specified location.

Those new item textures offer a huge improvement. I have two folders, turned off my texture degradation setting and tried both versions – original and your reworked. The original files cause a 30-45 second delay when opening a chest to see the item box display. With your new files the box displays near immediately.

Yes. When I first got here, that was one of the first things I mentioned (in the bugs thread I think). I had to resort to the texture degradation setting. It’s those texture files.
And your machine specs show faster/more powerful than mine.

Ack…if you’re going to run any of the Test versions, make a new folder ERASTest and ERASTestDX9 and put everything in there so you don’t wipe out the original .exe/module files so that if you run into any problems, you can still run the original if you’d like.

Also, I noticed many new items, from which some of them seem to be large files, because the shop menu sometimes lags when I open it. The stock ones newer lagged for me, and I can see that the new ones from the MOD seem to be causing the lag when exploring shop items

Well, for what it’s worth, my home machine is very slow on DX8 too, so given an already terrible frame-rate in 8, I only see another 10% degradation in 9 because I was already so low to begin with, LOL

I actually laughed a little at the suggestions because some of them remind me of AC IV Black Flag…I think perhaps they were inspired by the same, LOL. Notably, encountering/rescuing shipwrecked survivors on the sea, random floating goods upon the sea for recovery, sizable boarding battles.

The only thing I would like to change is adding more crew in boardings, to make it more massive.
I believe that the higher difficulty options actually do add more enemies/crew to boarding battles, along with a higher degree of enemy durability/skill. This may be a good option to look into, even at lower difficulty levels. Depending on ship crew…[Read more]

Yes, any quest can be done by any character.
There is a post at the top of one of these threads that describes what ERAS consists of. If I remember correctly, it is AoP COAS, with much of GOF 1.1 mod, then a bunch of modification to the available ships to make them more accurate within the era of game-time. OK, never mind. I just traced the source and found that I also need to enable ondebugkeys in start.ini, then I can use the * key to see the FPS.
I have uploaded the newer DX9, with the stars fix. Also, I found that hic.dat and stars.dat in RESOURCE are hardcoded paths in the Programs/weather .c code, so I added them to the .zip files as well so…[Read more]
