@Jack, I have that same ship and it doesn’t do that in my game. Just as with the flickering that has been described I think it may be in your hardware or video card settings. Without further information, I can’t say. But, I do know there have been some original bugs in the Pirate quest line before (e.g. Edward Low sinking, then talking to Morgan/Jackman out of order), so your theory is quite plausible.

Whoever wrote the ‘surrender’ code missed checking for the DontRansackCaptain attribute properly. The Gold Fleet, bounty hunters, and Gentlemen of Luck encounters have that set to true, yet the boarding code does not actually engage a true ‘surrender’ if the captain has that attribute, so there is a fight.

The missing sailors on that ship is my fault in the upload. MK told me to rename the sailorspoints file for that, which I did. But, turns out only in my full version of the game, not in the file set I uploaded for the update. Whoops.

The texture fixes for San Felipe and Dutch Heavy Frigate, gun charges > 4, option screen fixes, and ridding the sometimes jagged sea are complete.

I found there is a max setting in the script. Looking at the engine for the sign/charges, it looks like it should support up to 7. I fixed the max constraint in the code and will give myself that gun to test/check it out.

Well that’s unfortunate. I see that problem too. That ship is defined to have 4 hull texture folders, but it only has 3 and the one causing the problems is when the ship randomly gets Hull4 assigned. I found the problem with that gray ship in your shots. You can fix it yourself, to save the download trouble. Find RESOURCETexturesShipsZwareFregat1Hull1ship_wood_09.tga.tx and move the file to RESOURCETexturesShipsZwareFregat1. I will correct it in the update, but in the meantime will correct your issue.

I remember Coas I think you had to do the main quest first before a city became yours…
Correct. One of the nation questlines need completed before you can retain a town and appoint one of your officers as caretaker/tax collector.

I have long known some fights are near unwinnable, when playing on the higher difficulty levels as the original difficulty settings, when applied to the enemy generation, do not scale well, become super unbalanced, where the opposition far outranks you and often far exceeds your skill attributes.

Do you have a boarding save from when you were about to sack the town after Fort Amsterdam destroyed? That would be helpful to determine the issue. If not, how about a save just prior to your attack and I will destroy it myself to see if I get the same result.

You’re braver than I am Old Timer,
I NEVER take on the Isabella quest until I am at least level 10 to 15 and have the curaiss armor, shootist, cleaver shot, and some of the sword fighting perks. Those guys at the Cathedral are bugger hard and I have been there. 30 times plus 30 times.
