I have a problem, and I’m not sure if I’m missing something. I’m at the part where you need to go to Cumana, and ask around for rumors at the tavern barkeep. I can’t get the quest updated.
My status is neutral with Spain, I don’t have any kind of trading license, so I had to sneak in. I have a class 6 ship. When I approach the barkeep, I ask if he heard rumors, and I get the ‘feed my family’ line. When I ask about Low specifically, he says he never heard of him. No locals I drink with are providing any rumors other than me killing some robbers and rapists outside of town.
I’m at a loss. If it is bugged, I may need to :sigh: edit code, and get out of the quest that way. I found out in my research that I won’t be able to actually capture cities until the pirate questline is completed, so I really want it out of the way, one way or another.
Second, you can still capture cities once you get to the place in the Morgan questline where he tells you to go do your own thing for a while which allows you to do a Nation questline. Once the nation questline is complete you can capture cities anyway.
Third, its very forgiving. Jeffrey and I did some tweaking here. Go to sea in your little ship and approach Cumana. I think Sea Wolf will appear anyway even without talking to the bartender. You will hear the log update with the little “DING” sound when you are sailing off of Cumana with the small ship.
Ok, so if I sail out of Port of Spain heading west, and maybe exit to sea once I round the peninsula toward Cumana, that might work? I’ll try that, maybe criss-cross over a few days, then approach from the opposite direction.
Do upgraded class 6 ships interfere with the quest? I did upgrade the speed and point of sail.
The original game only allowed a specific ship type. The when GOF introduced more ships, many of them would fail the test, which would be costly trying to buy the correct one, failing many times with no real clue. So to make it slightly easier, we changed the ship check to simply allow any ship with 16 guns or fewer and a max crew less than 75. So if you upgraded crew, or had more than 16 guns, it won’t update and proceed with the quest.
